Relaxation for the whole body
- Sometimes described as Swedish massage, a relaxation massage typically covers the whole body rather than focusing on a special area that needs attention.
- The purpose is to promote circulation, relaxation, and a general sense of well-being.
- A full body massage should last for at least 60 minutes in order for the therapist to reach all the major areas of the body.
- The major areas include the back, shoulders, neck, legs, and arms. For men, the massage may include the pectorals.
Sexual contact is not considered a legitimate part of any massage treatment at The Best of Massage, and it is illegal in the State of Texas to request or offer such services.

Targeting specific areas for relief
Deep tissue massage is used for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
- The massage therapist uses firm pressure on pressure points, trigger points, stretching, and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and the connective tissue surrounding the muscles.
- Firm pressure is applied to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle “knots” or adhesions that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.
- Because the deep tissue massage focuses attention on trouble spots, additional time may be necessary in order to treat all the major areas of the body.
- Overhead “Ashiatsu” bars enable the therapist to apply medium to strong foot pressure using their body weight if requested.

The Best of Both Worlds
Our Thai/Swedish combo massage combines two very different techniques into a relaxing and rejuvenating massage experience.
- Swedish massage is well known as a relaxing massage. It uses five main techniques: stroking and gliding, kneading, rubbing, pounding and shaking. The objective is to achieve relaxation and facilitate healing. Lotion or oil is used to reduce friction, comfort and for skin care.
- Thai massage is often described as yoga without all the work as the therapist works to stretch and loosen your tightened muscles, release tension, relieve joints, and boost circulation.
- Ashiatsu or “foot pressure” commonly associated with Thai massage but it is not essential. If you want your therapist to walk on you, let them know.
- Thai massage can be more physically demanding and requires greater flexibility than Swedish massage.

For Maximum Performance
Sports massage covers three different types of massage for athletes: pre-event, post-event, and maintenance.
- Pre-event massage helps to warm up the muscles, stretching them and making them flexible for optimal performance.
- Post-event massage helps reduce the swelling caused by microtraumas; loosens tired, stiff muscles; helps maintain flexibility; promotes blood flow; and reduces cramping. In addition, post-event massage help speed the athlete’s recovery time.
- Maintenance massage is a regular part of athletic training programs. Maintenance massage increases blood flow and nutrients to the muscles. It also keeps muscle tissues loose so that the layers of muscle slides easily over each other. It also helps reduce the development of scar tissue while increasing flexibility and range of motion.

Skin Care
Sea Salt -- The Science
Sea salt isn’t just for salads. Mineral-rich sea salts have been shown to create healthy skin texture and are used to treat a variety of skin conditions. The minerals found in sea salt can play an important role in maintaining healthy skin.
Sea salt’s magnesium content has a plumping effect on the skin because of it chemically bonds with water and can also inhibit bacterial growth. The combined effects of magnesium and other minerals found in sea salt set the stage for increased cell growth, which slows the effects of aging. It’s no wonder that sea salt is added to many skin care treatments.
Science aside, you can count on your scrub to result in leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth, ready for moisturizers to be absorbed during the massage treatment that follows. In the end, you’ll feel refreshed and invigorated from your scrub, and relaxed from your massage.
Refreshing Foot Scrub - add $20/$25

Your feet are subjected to some harsh conditions day in and day out, and over time, excessive walking, tight shoes, going barefoot and other factors can lead to rough calluses, sore arches, and feet that are simply tired and sore. Every step you take can take your feet closer to irritation, discomfort and outright pain.
Hydrate and replenish your feet with a refreshing foot scrub. This treatment exfoliates, soothes and moisturizes the feet on the heal, arch, and between the toes.
Our Foot Scrub is an add-on enhancement available on any massage service 60 minutes or longer.
Exfoliating Body Scrub -
add $40/$50

Skin care is important, and not only for women, but for men as well. As we age, the skin starts to lose its natural moisture, and this applies to everyone. Treat your skin to the amazing benefits of our sea salt body scrub and massage.
Dead skin cells result in tired looking skin. Exfoliation clears out dead skin and encourages newer, younger skin cells to take its place. Sea salts exfoliate by slightly drying the outer layer of skin, encouraging dead skin to flake off. The coarse grains, applied within a moisturizing oil or creme, are then gently massaged into the skin causing the dead skin to release. As the dead skin is released, the body is prepared to absorb moisture and regain healthy vibrancy of the younger skin.
Our Body Scrub is an add-on enhancement available on any massage service 90 minutes or longer. For a 90 minute session, approximately 60 minutes is for massage and 30 minutes is for the body scrub.

What is an aromatherapy massage?
Regular massage reduces local inflammation, diminishes levels of depression, anxiety, and cortisol, and lowers the heart rate, which leads to feelings of relaxation. An aromatherapy massage incorporates essential oils into the massage to help relieve medical conditions, injuries, or to preserve wellness. The Best of Massage offers several aromatherapy blends that are formulated for a range of desired effects.
Essential oils are used in aromatherapy because oils are able to penetrate the skin more readily than water. Essential oil molecules are so minuscule that when they are applied to the skin, they are able to pass through the outer layer of the epidermis, to the dermis, into the capillaries and then into the bloodstream. Skin is able to absorb the oil even better when the rate of blood circulation and temperature of the skin increases – such as at the time of a massage – because these conditions bring blood to the surface.
Because of their potency, essential oils should be diluted before being applied to the skin. Carrier oils, such as the coconut or grapeseed massage oils used at The Best of Massage, are an excellent medium for dilution and topical application because they don’t evaporate as quickly as essential oils would if applied undiluted. This means that the carrier oil prevents the essential oil from evaporating quickly and allows the essential oil to last longer on the skin thereby improving absorption and prolonging its aromatic effects.
Note: Aromatherapy massage is not a replacement for traditional medicine.
